Gov. Jay Inslee will visit Yakima today to meet with leaders in local government, health care and business to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Inslee will first meet with local elected officials, followed by meetings with local health care system leaders and business representatives.
The latest data analysis from the Institute for Disease Modeling continues to show an increase in COVID-19 activity in the state of Washington, particularly in Yakima, Benton, Franklin and Spokane counties. They may require additional efforts to curb the spread of the virus, including expanded hospital capacity and testing.
The closed-door meetings will take place outdoors at Yakima Valley Community College. The meetings will also be held with appropriate social distancing and other health protocols consistent with the "Safe Start" proclamation.
The meetings are FYI only for reporters, however the governor will hold a media availability.
