2SHB 1048, titled AN ACT Relating to modifying the process for prevailing parties to recover judgments in small claims court, has been passed by the Senate Committee on Ways & Means. The Office of Financial Management has identified this bill as requiring a ten-year projection of increased cost to the taxpayers or affected fee payers.

There is no cash receipt impact to Labor and Industries (L&I) since it does not file judgments in small claims (district) court. L&I files warrants (liens) in superior court.

 

L&I is not providing an increase to revenue in the Crime Victims’ Compensation Account (01F) in the fiscal note as the revenue increase to 01F is reflected in the fiscal note provided by the Administrative Office of the Courts for this bill.
