SB 5611, titled AN ACT Relating to creating a special license plate to support the maintenance and improvements of Washington state parks, has been passed by the Senate Committee on Transportation. The Office of Financial Management has identified
this bill as requiring a ten-year projection of increased cost to the taxpayers or affected fee payers.
Ten-year projection:
Sections (1), (2) and (3) adds language to create a new special license plate; Washington State Parks - Sasquatch, set fees at $40 for each initial plate and $30 for renewals and directs funds to be deposited to the State Parks Education and Enhancement account (RCW 79a.05.059) to support the maintenance and improvements of Washington State Parks. The exact impact to cash receipts in indeterminate, but over $50,000 a biennium. State Parks does not know how many individuals would be interested in purchasing the "Sasquatch" special license plate. If individuals currently purchase the State Parks special license plate and decide to purchase the new license plate instead there would be no impact to cash receipts as the fees are identical.
There is no tax or fee impact to DOC associated with this bill.
There is no information available and it is not known how many of these new specialty plates might be purchased.
