HB 1974, titled AN ACT Relating to establishing a Washington state cannabis commission, has been passed by the House Committee on Commerce & Gaming. The Office of Financial Management has identified this bill as requiring a ten-year projection
of increased cost to the taxpayers or affected fee payers.
Ten-year projection:
The agency does not know the outcome of the required referendum so the cash receipt impact is indeterminate.
This bill would create an agricultural commodity commission to be known as the Washington state cannabis commission. The commission would be made up of 13 voting members, consisting of producers and processors and an additional advisory council.
There is no cash receipts impact as the bill does not direct the Liquor and Cannabis Board to collect any taxes or fees.
