SB 6327, titled AN ACT Relating to plumbing, has been introduced in the Senate. The Office of Financial Management has identified this bill as requiring a ten-year projection of increased cost to the taxpayers or affected fee payers.

Ten-year projection:

This bill requires general or plumbing specialty contractors who bid or advertise to perform plumbing work to apply and receive a plumbing contractor registration through the Department of Labor and Industries. The bill gives the department the authority to set an application fee by rule.

The department estimates this new license type will create 2,000 new licensees. This will result in a positive revenue impact, but the cost of the new license type, renewals and other fees have not yet been identified. Therefore, the total ten-year cost to fee payers is indeterminate at this time.
