New requirement: Notify us in 30 days if you change your address
Employers always have been required to keep their addresses up to date with Employment Security. But a new state law now requires you to notify us within 30 days if you change your address. Read the new law on the Washington State Legislature website.
Employer account features updated for Paid Leave and WA Cares
We added new features to employer accounts for Paid Leave and WA Cares. To view these changes, you may need to complete the PIN process to gain full access to your account.
What’s new
- The option to copy employee information from previously reported quarters, if you manually report.
- The ability to view your premium calculation breakdown per quarter on the Wage Submission History screen.
Learn how to complete the PIN process on the technical support page of the Paid Leave website.
Submit all Paid Leave/WA Cares reports before we calculate business size on Sept. 30
Now is a good time to check that you have successfully submitted a report for every quarter, including quarters with no payroll. Each quarterly reporting period should show a status of “Processed.”
Keep your Paid Leave/WA Cares account current
Keeping your account current ensures timely communication from us if we need to reach you. Plus, we’ll be able to keep you informed when we announce important updates, such as business sizing, job protection requirements and 2026 premium rates — coming soon.
Complete the PIN process to update your contact information. Learn how to complete the PIN process on the technical support page of the Paid Leave website.

Get help for your business before and during a layoff
You don’t need to manage a layoff by yourself. Get some help for you and your workers. “Rapid Response” coordinators in regions throughout the state can help employers, HR leaders and others in your organization to navigate a layoff.
Go to the Washington Workforce Association website to:
- Learn what Rapid Response can do for you and your employees.
- Find a Rapid Response coordinator in your area.
You also can contact Donna Mack, Statewide Rapid Response Manager at the Employment Security Department. Send an email to donna.mack@esd.wa.gov.
Funding
Rapid Response services are funded by a Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act grant from the federal Department of Labor. Read more about USDOL grants on the Employment Security website.
Employers love how SharedWork helps them and their employees
Earlier this year, we reached out to employers who participated in the SharedWork program. The program helps avert layoffs.
We asked participating employers how it went, and 92% said they had a positive or better experience. Given that SharedWork helps save both businesses and jobs, we’re proud to report that.
Learn more about the survey’s results and how SharedWork can help your business in tough times.
New wage data available for your use
You can find helpful wage estimates and data for nearly 870 occupations on Employment Security’s website.
This data can help you see wage estimates for occupations, compare wages regionally, compare wages by occupation and see the estimated total number of workers employed in each occupation.
Go to the Occupational employment and wage statistics page and select the link for the 2024 report released in 2025. Each summer, Employment Security’s labor market information division updates data for the previous year.
For more information, go to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics website to see data and maps at the national level:
You can find a wealth of other labor market information on Employment Security’s website.
