Applications for Adolescent and Young Adult Health Youth Advisory Council are now open

Health Care Authority (HCA) is sending this message on behalf of the Washington State Department of Health

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is inviting young people across Washington to apply to join the Adolescent and Young Adult Health Youth Advisory Council.

Council details

  • Who they’re seeking: Young people living in Washington, ages 13-22, who want to share their ideas, recommendations, and feedback on how to improve health care for teens and young adults.
  • Term: August 2025 – June 2026
  • Role: Help DOH’s Adolescent and Young Adult Health Team make key programming decisions and collaborate on public health projects.
  • Requirements to apply: Internet and email access

Member selection will center young people from communities most impacted by health care barriers and inequities. We especially encourage applications from those who identify with or have lived experiences in the following: 

  • Black, Indigenous, People of Color, immigrants, and 2SLGBTQIA+.
  • Visible or invisible disabilities, or who are neurodivergent
  • Involvement with systems like juvenile justice, child protective services, or foster care
  • Living with chronic disease conditions or undergoing treatment
  • Behavioral or mental health conditions and care
  • Feeling left out or experiencing challenges at school
  • Apple Health Medicaid insurance recipients
  • Facing economic or structural barriers
  • Houselessness or unstable housing 
  • Challenges with accessing or using health care or living in medically underserved areas

They are accepting applications until May 31, 2025. Applications are available in Arabic, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Other languages are available by request.
