Ecology's Diesel Reduction Combined Funding Program
Ecology is offering $18.5 million to scrap and replace old diesel vehicles and equipment with all electric vehicles and equipment. Funding is also available to install charging infrastructure to support the projects.

What vehicles and equipment qualify?
This is an opportunity for projects that replace or repower:
On road vehicles, class 4-8, engine model year 1992-2017
- Emergency vehicles
- Local freight vehicles
- Vocational vehicles (sweepers , refuse, etc.)
Non road vehicles
- Forklifts (> 8,000 lb. lift capacity)
- Cargo handling equipment
- Yard trucks/terminal tractors
Who is eligible to apply?
- Businesses licensed in Washington
- Non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations
- Public organizations
- Tribal governments
Where does the funding come from?
Funding is available from both the federal Volkswagen settlement fund and the state-funded diesel reduction program. The program funds projects that replace or repower vehicles which use diesel engines, prioritizing projects in areas impacted by diesel pollution.
When is the application period?
Applications will be accepted starting September 8, 2026 and the application window closes on December 10, 2026.
