The southern end of Boulevard Park near Taylor Dock is now open for water recreation.
*CORRECTION: Advisory went into effect on May 31, 2024, not June 6, 2024 as previously stated.
On June 20, 2024, Whatcom County Health and Community Services revised the swimming advisory for the southern end of Boulevard Park, near Taylor Dock in Whatcom County. The advisory had been in effect since May 31, 2024. New water samples show lower levels of fecal bacteria along the shoreline and at the dock, which reduces the public health risk of illness from water-borne pathogens. The beach and dock are now open for water-contact recreation, but the outfall near Bennett Avenue still has high levels of fecal bacteria above the safe limit. Avoiding the beach area near the outfall is still advised.
The no-contact advisory at Little Squalicum beach remains in effect at this time.
