REMINDER - Effective July 1st, 2024, DSHS will end these training courses- Traumatic Brain Injury: Strategies for Surviving and Thriving and Navigating Challenging Behaviors.

Dear Community/Facility Instructors

The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) strives to offer the most up to date training for long-term care workers.  We value the time and effort you put into training, and we want to ensure value and quality within the curricula you are teaching.

Effective July 1st, 2024, we are sunsetting the following outdated continuing education training material.

  • DSHS Traumatic Brain Injury: Strategies for Surviving and Thriving - 5 hours
  • DSHS - Navigating Challenging Behaviors - 3 hours

The following DSHS approved training courses are available for you to teach as continuing education. For more information on how to get approved to teach these CEs click here or contact us.

  1. DSHS Fundamentals of Caregiving CE Course Packet – 19.5hours
  2. Medication Assistance Activities – 2 hours
  3. Portable Orders for Life Saving Treatment (POLST) – 1.5 hours
  4. Dementia Specialty Training – 8 hours
  5. Mental Health Specialty Training – 8 hours
  6. Traumatic Brain Injury Specialty Training – 8 hours
  7. Diabetes Specialty Training – 8 hours
  8. Substance Use Disorder Specialty – 8 hours

NOTE FOR FACILITIES ONLY: Free CEs are available through CareLearn Washington for direct care professionals working in Washington State for an Adult Family Home, Assisted Living Facility, Enhanced Service Facility, or Home Care Agencies not affiliated with the SEIU; as well as Unpaid Caregivers who provide assistance to family members or friends.
