Hello Individual Providers,

In early 2022, Consumer Direct Washington (CDWA) as the contracted Consumer Directed Employer (CDE) will become the legal employer for all IPs in Washington state and IP contracts with DSHS will terminate.

As we all prepare for the changeover to the CDE, there are important things that IPs can do now to get ready. Several months prior to the Rollout Phase you will receive important communications from CDWA telling what you will need to do to continue to provide care and to get paid. When you receive these communications, please respond immediately to CDWAdo not wait until the last minute.

IPs, are you ready? You can start preparing now by reviewing IPOne to ensure your information is current:

      • Phone number
      • Mailing address
      • Email address
      • Paid Time Off (PTO) balance
      • Cumulative Career Hours (CCH)

In addition, as an IP, you will have to be ready to provide information needed to complete CDWA’s new hire process:

    • Identify an emergency contact
    • Attest to live-in status to determine eligibility for the Difficulty of Care and Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) exemptions
    • Identify relationship to determine eligibility for the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA/Social Security) exemption
    • Complete a W-4 and an I-9 Employment Verification form
    • Select the method you want to receive your pay from CDWA (direct deposit or debit card)
  • Provide proof of insurance and valid driver’s license (for IPs that drive on behalf of their client)
  • Indicate if would like to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination
  • Complete a background check (if the current background check expires within 90 days)
  • Complete CDWA’s paid employment orientation
