Welcome to latest edition of the I-405/SR 167 Program newsletter, where we provide regular updates throughout the next two months of construction along the corridor.
I-405 is taking a break this week! No closures are planned for this weekend. Travelers should check out the Labor Day weekend travel charts for the best and worst times to travel this holiday weekend. In this issue, you’ll find the latest closure information, a summary of work completed since last weekend, and a preview of what’s coming next so you can “know before you go.”
Other WSDOT work to be aware of: Overnight lane and ramp closures on I-405 for maintenance starting Monday, Aug. 31
Separate from our program’s work, overnight lane and ramp closures along multiple state highways in King County will begin Monday, Aug. 31, for crack sealing and pavement repair. The list of closures can be found in this travel advisory and the WSDOT real-time travel map.
This is part of a regional pavement repair project addressing more than 70 locations in King, Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties. These roadway improvements extend the life of the roadway and improve the driving surface.

- Overnight rolling slowdowns on southbound I-405 in Bothell
Sept. 11-13

This schedule is subject to change due to the nature of construction. Weather, traffic conditions, equipment availability, and other factors can affect scheduled work.
In addition to these impactful closures, expect nighttime lane and ramp closures and ongoing construction along the I-405 corridor. Check the real-time travel map for alerts.
Recent accomplishments
Northbound I-405 fish passage in Kirkland
Last weekend, crews dug under northbound I-405 to install a fish culvert for a tributary to Everest Creek, as part of the I-405/Northeast 85th Street Interchange and Inline BRT Station Project. The new concrete tunnel connects to the culvert beneath southbound I-405 that crews installed in July.

I-405 is one of many highways in Washington state that crosses streams and rivers, and these crossings can create barriers to fish passage. A fish passage barrier is anything that hinders fish from moving upstream or downstream. WSDOT corrects fish barriers on state highways to help salmon recovery and comply with state laws.
