On May 18, 2026, the Washington State Department of Health (department) filed proposed amendments to chapter 246-290 WAC. The proposed amendments are intended to incorporate the federal requirements by text and reference for lead and copper rule revisions and make minor editorial changes and updates to ensure consistency of terms and internal references between federal and state rules.
The department invites you to comment on the proposal through June 23, 2026, at midnight. A public hearing will be held on June 23, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. to give you an opportunity to provide oral comments to the department.

Written comments can be sent through e-mail to zehra.siddiqui@doh.wa.gov or may be submitted online at the department’s rules comment page.
