About the Rulemaking
The Washington Department of Health (department) filed a CR-101 Preproposal Statement of Inquiry on November 2, 2022, to consider rulemaking to:
- Align quality assurance and control standards with WA State Liquor and Cannabis Board rule.
- Consider updated terminology and requirements for products compliant for medical use.
- Consider changes to compliant product labeling.
- Replace the term "marijuana" with "cannabis" in accordance with Second Substitute House Bill 1210 passed in 2022.
Approach for the Workshop
Since the last meeting, our team has evaluated feedback from participants and others, discussed policy options, and drafted language options for Quality Assurance Testing and Label Requirements under WAC 246-70-050 and 060. We are finalizing draft language and compiling an overview of proposed changes and questions we want to ask you.
1-2 weeks prior, we will send materials for the workshop. You will have an opportunity to share input in writing as well as during the workshop.
