The Department of Health, Health Systems Quality Assurance Division, is accepting applications to fill the public member position on the Board of Massage.
To qualify for the public member position on the Board of Massage, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
• Be a resident of Washington State. • Their occupation does not include the administration of health activities or the provision of health services and • Have no material financial interest in the provision of health care services.
Board members are compensated in accordance with RCW 43.03.265.
After reading the recruitment notice, if you or someone you know is qualified and interested in applying for an appointment to serve as the public member on the Board of Massage, please submit your application online. On the application, select that you are applying for the Massage Examining Board.
Members’ responsibilities may include: • Define, evaluate, approve and designate schools and programs from which graduation will be accepted as proof of an applicant's eligibility to take the licensing examination. • Reviewing approved schools and programs. • Establish by rule the standards and procedures for approving courses of study. • Policy making. • Adopt rules necessary to implement massage therapist licensure.

Health profession boards, commissions, and committees operate under legislative mandate to: • Protect the health and safety of the public. • Promote the welfare of the state by regulating the competency and quality of health care providers under their authority.
