The Department of Health (department) Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) invites you to participate in a rulemaking workshop to clarify rules including terms relating to the PMP.
The department is considering clarifying language in the PMP rules, WAC 246-470-030 and 246-470-050, after receiving several questions from interested parties regarding the concepts of “sold”, “dispense”, “filled”, and “distributed” during a State Auditor’s Office audit of the PMP as well as in various other routine operational situations. The department will consider those questions and concerns during this rulemaking process. The department is also considering clarifying that prescribers can request the history of prescriptions they have written. Clarifying language is necessary to reduce confusion about the intent of the rule for dispensers and prescribers.
