CR-103 Alert: Adoption of Expedited Rule Making- Replacing "Marijuana" with "Cannabis" Chapters 246-71 and 246-72 WAC.
In February, the Washington Department of Health (department) filed a CR-103 (Permanent Rule Making) with the Office of the Code Revisor to adopt and codify technical changes to Chapters 246-71 WAC, Medical Cannabis Authorization Database and 246-72 WAC, Medical Cannabis Consultant Certificate. The adopted language was first proposed in November, 2022 and received no public comments. A copy of the adopted rules and associated documents are provided in the links below.
The adopted rule is to follow technical changes made by the 2022 Washington State Legislature to change the term "marijuana" to "cannabis" throughout state law. In addition to changing this term in rule, the department made the following technical changes:
- Removed the gender field requirement in the medical cannabis database
- Updated the rule's gender citations
