CR-105 Alert: Expedited Rule Making Filed- Replacing "Marijuana" with "Cannabis" Chapters 246-71 and 246-72 WAC.
On September 6, 2022, The Washington Department of Health (department) filed a CR-105 Notice of Expedited Rulemaking for Chapters 246-71 WAC, Medical Cannabis Authorization Database and 246-72 WAC, Medical Cannabis Consultant Certificate, as WSR 22-18-086.
Second Substitute House Bill 1210 passed in 2022, changing the term "marijuana" to "cannabis" throughout state law. The approved proposal amends the rule with the following technical changes:
- Replaces the term "marijuana" with "cannabis"
- Removes the gender field requirement in the medical cannabis database
- Updates the rule's gender citations

Comments on the proposed rule may be submitted on the comment page or sent to the Medical Cannabis Program at medicalcannabis@doh.wa.gov. We will continue accepting comments until close of business Monday November 7th, 2022.
