CR-103 Notice: Concise Explanatory Statement for Permanent Rule Making- Chapter 246-72 WAC Medical Marijuana Consultant Certificate
On May 9, 2022, the Department of Health (department) adopted amendments to chapter 246-72 WAC, Medical Marijuana Consultant Certificate under legislative authority RCW 69.51A.290.
The adopted amendments to chapter 246-72 WAC will become effective on June 7, 2022. A copy of the adopted rules along with a summary of public comments received, and the department’s response are provided in the links below.

The amended rules enhance and clarify the following:
• Definitions of “designated provider” and “qualifying patient” • Training program requirements • Education requirements of an instructor • Continuing education • Practice parameters of a medical marijuana certified consultant – and – • Other house-keeping amendments
In alignment with the rule amendment, the department has created a 2-hour training for certified consultants. The department will distribute a Fact Sheet with everything you need to know about this free 2-hour training, along with a link to the training via GovDelivery as soon as it becomes available. We will also post the training and the FAQ on our website at Medical Marijuana | Washington State Department of Health.
