USP 800: The commission will not find deficiencies or take enforcement action against licensees for failure to comply with USP 800 through March 31, 2022. Additionally, the commission’s position toward the discrepancies between USP 797 and USP 800 as well as adherence to Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (LNI) General Occupational Health Standards rules on Hazardous Drugs (WAC 296-62-500 et al) can be found in this policy statement.
USP 825: The commission expects compliance with USP 825 beginning October 1, 2021 where applicable per RCW 18.64.270(2) and WAC 246-945-100.

The Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission (commission) has refiled emergency rules under WSR 21-20-076 for the retired active pharmacist license status. This emergency rule matches the intent of the Governor's proclamation 20-32 by creating a retired active pharmacist license status allowing retired pharmacists to practice pharmacy during emergent or intermittent circumstances and assist with the COVID-19 response. This emergency rule also reinstates the process to apply for a retired active pharmacist license and establishes the criteria for returning to active status.
For more information, please view the rule language here. Please contact WSPQAC@doh.wa.gov with questions and call 360.236.4700 if you would like more information on applying for the retired active pharmacist license status.
Beginning October 1, 2021, the Health Care Authority (HCA) requires providers check the Washington State Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) prior to prescribing and up to two days after dispensing outpatient prescriptions for controlled substances in compliance with WAC 182-530-1080. Please see this FAQ and HCA's website for more information and email questions to AppleHealthPharmacyPolicy@hca.wa.gov.
