At its September 2nd business meeting, the Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission (commission) voted on an updated approach to USP 800 and USP 825 enforcement.
USP 800: The commission will not find deficiencies or take enforcement action against its licensees for failure to comply with USP 800 through March 31, 2022. Additionally, the commission’s position toward the discrepancies between USP 797 and USP 800 as well as adherence to WA State Department of Labor and Industries’ (LNI) General Occupational Health Standards rules on Hazardous Drugs (WAC 296-62-500 et al) can be found in this policy statement.
USP 825: The enforcement discretion currently extended on compliance with USP 825 will end on September 30, 2021. The commission expects compliance with USP 825 beginning October 1, 2021 where applicable per RCW 18.64.270(2) and WAC 246-945-100.
Please note: Updates to the commission’s policy statement on the Enforcement of USP 800 and USP 825 are in progress. The updated statement will be distributed through GovDelivery and posted on the commission’s webpage in the policies and procedures when it is available.
