The Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission (commission) has filed emergency rules under WSR 21-04-116 creating a retired active pharmacist license status, effective as of February 1, 2021.
This emergency rule matches the intent of the Governor's proclamation 20-32 by reinstating a retired active pharmacist license status allowing retired pharmacists to practice pharmacy during emergent or intermittent circumstances and assist with the COVID-19 response. This emergency rule also reinstates the process to apply for a retired active pharmacist license and establishes the criteria for returning to active status.
For more information, please view the rule language here. Please contact WSPQAC@doh.wa.gov with questions and call 360.236.4700 if you would like more information on applying for the retired active pharmacist license status.
Please note, if you had a current retired pharmacist license as of July 1, 2020, your license status was changed to the new license status, there is no further action needed at this time and you will receive an updated credential by mail. You will also receive a renewal notice when it is time to renew. You can also verify the status of your credential online using this DOH Provider Credential Search.
