Dear Interested Party,
At the June 9, 2020, Board of Massage meeting, the board addressed the difficulties in obtaining hands on continuing education (CE) during the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Board of Massage has issued Policy Statement BOM 20-01, Continuing Education Requirements During the COVID-19 Response to address the impact COVID-19 response measures are having on the massage therapy profession with regard to meeting the CE requirements in WAC 246-830-475(1)(a).
Massage therapists will still be required to complete 24 hours of CE. However, massage therapists may substitute the eight hours of hands on training by completing any combination of the subjects listed in subsection (2) of WAC 246-830-475.
The policy statement will also be available to view on the massage therapy webpage.
If you have any questions about the policy statement, you may contact program staff at megan.maxey@doh.wa.gov or 360-236-4945.
