Pharmacy Rules Rewrite - Chapter 246-945 WAC:
The Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission (commission) adopted rules on April 23, 2020, consolidating multiple chapters of rules into one chapter that establishes standards regarding pharmacy and pharmaceutical practice. Chapter 246-945 WAC - Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission includes four separate section titles: general provisions, general licensing, professional standards, and operational standards. The commission will repeal all 34 of its previous WAC chapters.
Chapter 246-945 WAC filed on June 1, 2020, under WSR 20-12-072 is effective July 1, 2020.
The rule filing delays enforcement of WAC 246-945-178 Pharmacist continuing education and WAC 246-945-220 Pharmacy technician-continuing education until March 1, 2021, to align pending fee rules and changes in renewal schedules. To help provide clarification and education, the commission will post policy statements to the commission’s webpage.
Chapter 246-901-140 Pharmacy services plan:
WSR 20-12-078 filed on June 1, 2020, repeals WAC 246-901-140 – Pharmacy Service Plans. This rule is superseded by WAC 246-901-130 that permits the responsible pharmacy manager to determine the number of pharmacy technicians that can be satisfactorily supervised by the pharmacist(s) on duty.
