Jefferson County PUD Hosts Energy Auditor Training

Taryn Stroop and Chelsey Weflen stopped by the auditor training to meet students and answer questions about the IRA Home Energy Rebates program.


Jefferson County PUD hosts energy auditor training

Commerce recently visited Port Townsend for Jefferson County PUD’s Home Energy Auditor Training. Build North, Ben’s Heating, and Home Performance Pros were the first contractors to take this training. Congratulations on investing in your future.

We'd like to extend a big thanks to our partners at Opportunity Council and Jefferson County PUD for conducting the training.

Contractors received BPI certification and the skills to run energy models and identify opportunities to improve a home’s energy efficiency. The certification is required for contractors to perform home energy audits for the IRA rebates program.

Earth Day every day

Each year, on April 22, people celebrate Earth Day internationally. From conservation projects to local cleanups, volunteers can find opportunities to support environmental protection and preservation. We can all reduce our carbon footprint by adopting sustainable practices such as recycling, using public transportation, reusable bags, and water bottles.

Did you know Washington is home to 146 state parks? Residents can visit any of Washington’s state parks for free on Earth Day. Visit Washington State Parks to start planning your adventure.

Becoming energy efficient is a step everyone can take to help the environment. Energy efficiency reduces air pollution and can lower energy bills. Visit Energy Savings at Home | ENERGY STAR for ways to save energy at home and explore Energy Star rebates.

April QCN application help hour

If you know contractors who are interested in joining the QCN or would like to ask questions in an informal setting, Commerce suggests attending one of the Commerce QCN Application Help Hours, scheduled on the second Tuesday of every month from 12-12:30 p.m. Contractors can also submit questions via the QCN Contractor Support Form.

The next QCN Application Help Hour will be on May 12 from 12-12:30 p.m.

Washington women in trades 2026

This free event on Friday, May 1, is open to all and is primarily an opportunity for women to explore well-paying and rewarding careers in the construction trades. Carpentry, sheet metal, electrical linework, elevator construction, ironwork, masonry, firefighting, and meat cutting are a few of the many trades featured at this event.

Washington Women in Trades (WWIT) is a community based, nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to improve women's economic equity and self-sufficiency through access and success in high-wage, high-skilled careers in the construction, manufacturing and transportation sector.
