Commerce announces $3 million available to support salmon recovery

Applications are due Nov. 17

Salmon are a vital part of Washington's ecosystem, economy and cultural heritage.

Now, Commerce is offering approximately $3 million in Salmon Recovery through Local Planning grants to support local governments and federally recognized tribes in Washington for their efforts to protect these critical resources.

These grants are designed to support updates to local comprehensive plans and development regulations, focusing on improving water quality and protecting vital salmon habitat.

Applicants are eligible to apply for up to $500,000. Applications are due by 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17.

Pre-application workshops

Commerce will host a pre-application workshop at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 on Zoom to provide more information about this grant opportunity and how to apply.

An application workshop reserved for tribal members will follow at 11 a.m.

Attendance is not required for either workshop, but you must register to attend them.
