In response to Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) F23-34440-700, there were 59 total applications received, representing approximately $8.2 million in requested funds. Forty-one applications were responsive and evaluated by a team of evaluators. The 41 responsive applications represent over $5.6 million dollars in requested funds. Of the 41 applications, the following seven are designated as Apparent Successful Applicants based on their scores:
- NorthEast Washington Education Service District 101 (NEWESD 101)
- In response to rising community and youth violence in Eastern Washington, the Safe Communities Mentoring program, under the umbrella of NEWESD 101’s Safe Communities Partnership (SCP), aims to address the escalating issues of youth opioid and substance misuse, gang violence, and mental health struggles in historically underserved East, West Central, and Northeast Spokane.

- Tacomaprobono Community Lawyers
- Tacomaprobono’s Family Safety Project provides critical support services to crime victims and advocates for their rights. By providing effective legal support and advocacy through a unique collaborative partnership between legal aid and victim wraparound support services in Pierce County.
- Amount: $150,000
- Triumph Teen Life Center
- Triumph Teen Life Center provides support services for at-risk youth in Skagit County. Their services prevent and reduce crime, improve youth outcomes in the criminal justice system, support crime victims, address substance abuse, and enhance law enforcement’s role in communities to foster better relations and improve community engagement.

- Washington State Department of Corrections – Reentry Program
- Washington State Department of Corrections will promote empathy, understanding, and coordinated reentry efforts by walking incarcerated individuals, government agencies, and community partners through an immersive educational experience aiming to reduce recidivism and support reintegration into society across Washington State.

- Washington State Department of Corrections – Women’s Program
- Washington State Department of Corrections will support women at the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) receiving trauma and addiction treatment while incarcerated as a critical intervention point to prevent recidivism and mortality and to create safer communities across Washington State.
- Amount: $150,000
- Washington State District and Municipal Court Judges’ Association (DMCJA)
- DMCJA will implement the FAIR (fair, accessible, and inclusive responses) Court Program that will evaluate the procedural justice practices of 3-4 Washington State courts of limited jurisdiction (including Whitman and Pierce Counties). By providing actionable recommendations for procedural justice training and bias reduction, the FAIR Court Program aims to enhance the fairness and effectiveness of judicial proceedings, including in sensitive cases such as those involving domestic violence.

- YWCA Spokane
- YWCA Spokane supports the education of low and moderate-income victims on the criminal process and provides resources for survivors of domestic violence through a variety of legal processes in Spokane County. In addition to legal advocacy, the YWCA also assists domestic violence survivors in arranging options and safety plans, looking for housing, and establishing shelter and childcare.
- Amount: $120,913.77
A total of $1,020,913.77 will fund these seven projects.
The anticipated contract period will be November 1, 2024 – December 31, 2025
