Applications open now for tribal clean energy grants

Application deadline is Oct. 15

The Washington State Department of Commerce is still accepting applications for the Tribal Clean Energy Grants solicitation. Funding is available exclusively for federally recognized tribes to support clean energy projects. This review round differs from the previous rounds by providing funding solely for planning efforts that support the siting and permitting of clean energy projects.

Eligible applications will support siting and permitting of clean energy projects through:

  • Planning efforts to inform comprehensive plan updates or development regulations related to clean energy project siting
  • Conducting Land use studies and pre-development work addressing potential clean energy siting
  • Creating Programmatic environmental impact statements (EIS)
  • Improving clean energy permit timeliness and certainty with staffing, expertise, mapping or databases

The final application review deadline is noon Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Pre-application conference: Commerce is hosting a virtual pre-application conference Tuesday, Sept. 24. Potential applicants are encouraged, but not required, to attend this webinar to learn more about this opportunity.

Commerce issued an amendment to the Request for Applications detailing the changes for the fall round. For the amendment and other program documents including full eligibility details, evaluation criteria, application materials, listening session resources, and Q&A documents, please review the Tribal Clean Energy RFA materials (on Box).
