Commerce hosts webinar on Comprehensive Climate Action Plan

Join us Monday, April 29, 2024, at 10 a.m. for a quarterly public webinar to learn about the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan.

Background

In June, Washington was awarded $3 million for Phase 1 of the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG). This is one of many federal funding opportunities created through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). You can learn more on the EPA website.

In Phase 1, the CPRG provides federal funding to state governments, municipalities, tribes, and territories to develop climate action plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollutants.

Webinar information

Washington State Departments of Commerce and Ecology, along with Puget Sound Clean Air Agency will host this webinar. This will be the kickoff meeting on Washington's and the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue Metropolitan Statistical Area's (MSA's) Comprehensive Climate Action Plans (CCAP). The primary goal of the CCAP is to create an implementable, equitable, and comprehensive plan to get to net zero by 2050. There will be extensive engagement in the creation of the CCAPs to include tribes, state and local governments, subject matter experts, and the public, especially those in communities who are most impacted by climate change.

The state and local CCAPs will include a greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, a compressive list of GHG reduction measures to achieve Washington's GHG limits, and an analysis of air quality, workforce, and other equity-related benefits.

Staff will be on hand to:

  • Provide an overview of the CRPG process
  • Briefly review the Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) and how it will inform the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP)
  • Share the CCAP process and community engagement strategy
  • Inform participants on opportunities to participate (and how their input will be used)
  • Gather initial insights, comments, and opinions that will help inform the CCAP process

Please register to attend this webinar: 10 a.m., Monday, April 29
