Invitation to join a webinar and learn about the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub

Greetings!

The Office of Tribal Relations is happy to partner with Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub and Washington State University Office of Tribal Relations in this event. Please join us!

The Washington State University Office of Tribal Relations is reaching out on behalf of the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub (PNWH2) to invite tribal leaders, staff, and citizens across the PNW to join us at one of two virtual opportunities to learn more about clean hydrogen generally, the proposed regional hydrogen hub, how tribes can expect to be engaged by the hub, and opportunities for further connection.

When:

These virtual convenings will take place on Monday, March 18th,

one from noon – 1:30 pm PDT

and one from 6:00 – 7:30 pm PDT.

What:

In October 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy announced PNWH2 was selected as one of seven regional hydrogen hubs across the country to negotiate a federal funding award under the H2Hub program. PNWH2 represents a partnership between various government agencies, companies, and organizations across Washington, Oregon, and Montana to kick start a clean hydrogen market in the region. This effort has a special focus on reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions in our energy system, bringing meaningful benefits to communities, and creating good-paying jobs. Additional information about PNWH2 and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on the hub’s website.

Join the dedicated space for elected leaders, staff, and citizens of regional tribal nations

As key details of the hub and its projects are finalized through negotiations with DOE, PNWH2 wanted to create a dedicated space for elected leaders, staff, and citizens of regional tribal nations to learn more and ask questions. Tribal relations have been and will continue to be a critical component of this effort, and the hub is eager to offer an opportunity for shared learning and discussion.  At this convening, staff from Washington State University, the Washington State Department of Commerce, the Oregon Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, and PNWH2 board members will provide and introduction to clean hydrogen, present about the hub, and discuss tribal engagement and partnership. The first portion of the convening will be brief to allow ample time for questions and answers.

No prior knowledge, experience, or engagement with clean hydrogen or the hub is necessary for your participation. Two identical convenings will be offered to accommodate a wide range of schedules.
