Commerce offers free trainings for supportive housing providers

Trainings and technical assistance available for prospective applicants to Commerce housing programs.

If your organization is interested in or already providing supportive housing, free training resources are available. Commerce’s Capacity Building, Outreach and Support Program (CBOS) is currently soliciting requests for technical assistance for affordable housing developers, and the CBOS team is pleased to highlight additional free trainings for providers of supportive housing offered by the Foundational Community Supports (FCS) program at the Washington State Health Care Authority.

Affordable Housing Predevelopment Technical Assistance

Commerce staff and consultants are available to work with groups to plan successful projects focused on developing housing for very low and low-income persons. Technical assistance services are prioritized for organizations serving BIPOC; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Transgender, and other-gender diverse populations; organizations serving marginalized communities, and organizations serving rural areas.   Technical assistance activities vary based on the needs of each organization and community, but may include:

  • Project planning
  • Financing strategy
  • Site planning and design
  • Feasibility analysis

If you are interested in this program, complete our technical assistance inquiry form so that our team can connect you to the appropriate resource or consultant. For more information reach out to HTFCapacityBuilding@commerce.wa.gov.

Supportive Housing Pre-Institute Academy

Registration is now available to join the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) for the Washington Supportive Housing Pre-Institute Academy. This Development Series is a series of trainings designed to be accessible and educational to all who may want to attend. The Washington Supportive Housing Pre-Institute Academy is intended to prepare agencies to also apply for The Supportive Housing Institute in 2025.

All interested parties are welcome and encouraged to attend each session, but you can also choose whichever sessions fit your schedule. These sessions are open to those who are working on or interested in developing supportive housing in Washington state.

All sessions are free of charge, made possible by the Foundational Community Supports (FCS) program at the Washington State Health Care Authority (WA HCA).

You can find more information and register for trainings at the Washington Supportive Housing Pre-Institute Academy page on the CSH website.
