Input sought to inform decisions on $5 million available to secure landmark federal funding

The historic CHIPS and Science Act (CHIPS), the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) make available hundreds of billions in both direct federal funding and tools to leverage private sector investment in critical industries in Washington state.

Commerce is requesting information from communities and entities that plan to apply for federal funding under these programs.

These documents and web pages provide more details on the various programs created by the CHIPS, IIJA and IRA:

What we are asking and why

We are seeking high level details about planned applications to programs funded under these historic federal investment programs.

This information will help us make fair and informed decisions about how to allocate $5 million in state funds over the next two years intended to secure federal investments in projects throughout Washington state.

We anticipate awarding grants of $25,000 to $500,000 to eligible organizations pursuing federal investments over the next two years through a competitive process to be announced later.

Project information must be submitted by 5 p.m. PST July 31, 2023
