HRMS under collected PFML contributions on Jan. 10 paychecks
By the OFFICE OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
For Jan. 10 employee paychecks, the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) mistakenly applied the 2022 Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML) rates instead of the 2023 rates. This resulted in an under collection of about $5 or less per employee.
HRMS autocorrected for the Jan. 25 paychecks to collect the correct 2023 premium, including the missed amount for Jan. 10. However, per WAC 192-510-065, we shouldn't have collected the difference. We didn't catch this mistake in time to resolve it before the payroll period closed.
