$84.7 million available to acquire housing for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness

The Department of Commerce has posted a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) soliciting applications for the next phase of the Rapid Capital Housing Acquisition (RCHA) program.

Over $84.7 million is available in this round. Funding will be distributed by region.

RCHA program has funded over 1,600 units of housing since 2021

The RCHA program provides funding to acquire real property for rapid conversion into enhanced emergency shelters, permanent supportive housing, transitional housing, permanent housing, youth housing or shelter for people with extremely low incomes and people experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness in Washington state. The program helps organizations acquire properties capable of swiftly housing people with minimal updates and evidence of local support.

Commerce distributes funding for the Rapid Capital Housing Acquisition program by region. The table below shows estimated distribution amounts for each county for this round.

The 2022 Rapid Capital Housing Acquisition Phase II NOFA (#MHU-2022-06) identifies specific funding requirements and priorities, the process for applying, and dates of significance for applicants.

DEADLINE: Project applications are due Jan. 12, 2023

Technical assistance and answers clarifying application questions are available from Oct. 26, 2022 to Jan. 5, 2023.
