2 team members to rappel down tallest building in Spokane to raise money for affordable housing

Well, folks, it's finally happening — we're sending two Commerce team members over the edge! Err, we mean that two of our colleagues have volunteered to rappel down the tallest building in Spokane in an Oct. 15 fundraiser to support Habitat for Humanity Spokane.
“We at Commerce care about strengthening communities, and nothing strengthens a community more than having an adequate supply of affordable housing," Director Lisa Brown said in her Over the Edge video in support of this effort. “We've got a whole division devoted to this effort, and two of our team members are going to participate!"

Security upgrade coming to agency email Oct. 1

As we migrate in stages to Office 365, Information Services continues to upgrade email security. On cell phones, the agency accesses email using the Outlook app, which uses a secure login protocol.
To be more secure, the state is turning off older insecure protocols such as Active Sync, an older method for accessing email. This means anyone trying to log in insecurely will be denied. That's good news for us and bad news for hackers.

Agency offers way for supervisors to add MI Code when approving trainings for team members in TLC

Most team members and supervisors have had a chance to explore The Learning Center (TLC) and take some trainings. And we've received feedback that supervisors aren't sure where to enter a Master Index (MI) Code when approving a training. (An MI code tells our accounting folks which budget to use to pay for the training.)
We have good news. Although the system doesn't have a specific place that states “enter MI Code," we have found a solution.
