Commerce’s Housing Division (HD) is seeking a data and performance professional to help us tell the affordable housing crisis story.

The Data and Performance Unit Managing Director (DPMD) is responsible for engaging stakeholders to determine the performance metrics to be measured and the minimum performance levels and targets required to receive funding from the Housing Division.

Performance management and transparency in capital investments are central, high-profile features of HD-funded programs. The outcomes of performance management processes determine which counties, organizations and projects receive funding, effectively reducing poverty and homelessness and providing stable, affordable housing in those communities.

The DPMD leads and is responsible for program performance management policy and implementing performance management systems for four lines of business in the division managed by four units:

  • Homeless housing
  • Capital financed affordable housing (multifamily and homeownership)
  • Homeless youth investments
  • Apple Health and Homes permanent supportive housing

Job responsibilities 

  • Represent Commerce's affordable housing and homeless data collection and performance measurement efforts 
  • Lead team responsible for the development and implementation of four data systems and the four systems to evaluate system and individual project performance
  • Guide visualization of housing system performance data
  • Manage performance training requirements for HD staff and funding recipients, and performance advisory groups implementation 
  • Represent Housing Division in agency-wide processes
  • Lead implementation of special performance management legislative directives
  • Supervise work of approximately 15 full-time employees, including three direct reports

Work From Anywhere

This position may be located anywhere within Washington state, though occasional travel to a Commerce office building or in-state travel to attend events or meetings may be required. If selected, you will need to travel to pick up equipment and receive instruction.
