Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Fraud Alert

The Washington State Department of Commerce has been notified of fraudulent activity nationwide by individuals claiming to represent the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). Individuals unrelated to CSBG are contacting people via telephone, email, social media and text message offering CSBG funding or services in exchange for a fee.

Neither the federal government or state of Washington provides any direct CSBG grants to individuals and/or families. Additionally, the federal and state government will never contact any individuals by phone, email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information.

If you are made aware of or receive any communication offering CSBG grant funds or requesting a fee in exchange for additional funding, please do not respond and report the communication to the Health and Human Services (HHS) Fraud Hotline at 1-800-447-8477 and the Washington State CSBG Office at CSBG@Commerce.wa.gov
