Commerce announces notice of funding opportunity for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Reduction projects

The GHG Emissions Reduction Program is a grant program supported through Commerce’s Clean Energy Fund (CEF3)

OLYMPIA, WA – The Washington State Department of Commerce is seeking proposals for the new Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Reduction Program.

The GHG program is part a historic package of climate legislation Gov. Jay Inslee signed this year promoting healthy communities, family-sustaining jobs and clean energy. Commerce’s State Energy Office will develop many of these new programs..

GHG program-funded projects must provide a public benefit to the residents of Washington state. These benefits include development, demonstration and deployment of clean energy technologies that save energy and reduce energy costs, reduce harmful air emissions or increase energy independence for the state.

The GHG program grant funding opportunity will be available to awardees in only the first phase of a project.

Primary goals are to:

  • Reduce GHG emissions of at least 750,000 tons per year.
  • Increase energy efficiency.
  • Protect or create aluminum-manufacturing jobs in Whatcom County.

More information and the request for proposal (RFP) is available on the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Program webpage.  All proposals are due by July 29 at noon.
