The Grid Modernization Program was allocated money for
implementing innovative projects through matching grants to Washington’s retail
electric utilities to provide public benefits.
Commerce will make grants of up to $10,670,000 to public and/or
private utilities under this solicitation. The amount of the individual grants
will be between $1 million and $3 million. Commerce grants will fund no more
than 50 percent of the total project cost associated with obtaining eligible
assets.
We intend to issue the Notice of Funding Opportunity by Sept.
17, with Phase 1 concept submissions due Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. PDT. Phase 2 full
applications will be due Dec.10 at 5 p.m. PST.
There will be a Stakeholder Engagement Meeting on Aug. 27,
2018 from 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Department of Commerce, 1011
Plus St SE, Olympia WA. The agenda and grant application guide are posted on
the Grid
Modernization website.
There will also be an applicant bidders' conference for the Grid
Modernization Program. It is planned for addressing questions about the grant
application process and other items relating to the program. Applicants are
strongly encouraged, but not required, to participate.The Applicants Bidders Conference will be held Sept.19 from 11
a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
This conference will be set up as a Skype meeting but can also be attended in
