September meal and rest break reporting webinars set

Hospitals with questions about how to comply with Meal and Rest Break (MRB) quarterly reporting requirements under a new law can get answers in September.

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries scheduled four virtual hour-long sessions on Zoom. Here’s the list – click on each date to register in advance for that event:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information to join the meeting.

What the sessions will cover
Each session will cover filing the MRB quarterly report form electronically. You can see the form, and an accompanying guidance document at www.Lni.wa.gov/HLS, and simply click on the “Medical facilities, hospitals” tab.

The guidance document details specific reporting categories, and how to count required breaks – whether missed or taken. The document references L&I’s Healthcare Labor Standards Program policy HLS.A.2, also available on www.Lni.wa.gov/HLS.

As you know, Engrossed Second Substitute Senate Bill 5236 requires selected facilities use the self-report form. The form and guidance document represent part of our effort to support hospitals and protect hospital healthcare workers.

Please send this message to others in the industry and suggest they subscribe to the Healthcare Labor Standards e-mail distribution list to receive future updates.

If you have questions, please email them to healthcarelaborstandards@Lni.wa.gov.
