Setting the stage to improve L&I’s Interpretation Services

The Interpretation Services program has some important changes regarding L&I’s interpretation services available for medical and vocational appointments.

L&I issued a new Request for Qualifications and Quotations (RFQQ) this month. We are looking for a vendor to provide on-demand and scheduled in-person, video, phone interpretation services and a scheduling system. On average, L&I receives nearly 22,000 requests for interpretation services each month.

If you have questions about this RFQQ, please contact the Contract Manager, Cristy Cristy.Zarate@Lni.wa.gov.

Why are we issuing an RFQQ?
Since launching the current scheduling system in April 2021, we have gathered feedback from providers, workers, self-insurers and interpreters (Language Access Providers, or LAPs) about how to improve the system. The RFQQ asks potential new vendors to provide additional features that respond to those suggestions.

We welcome feedback about your experience with L&I interpretation services. Please send all comments or questions to interpretation@Lni.wa.gov.
