From L&I: New boiler fees effective July 1, 2022

Dear interested party:

The Board of Boiler Rules and the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) have adopted changes to the state’s boiler rules that increase fees by 5.58% for boiler and pressure vessel inspections and other Boiler Program public safety activities.

A fee increase is needed to cover operating expenses. The fee increase is the state Office of Financial Management’s maximum allowable fiscal growth factor rate for fiscal year 2023.

The fee changes affect WAC 296-104-700, What are the inspection fees – Examination fees – Certificate fees – Expenses?.

You can review the adopted rules here or by going online to the program’s “Laws & Rules” page.

The Board approved the proposed rules and authorized the CR-103 filing to adopt the rules.

The rule changes were adopted on Apr. 19. The new fees will take effect on Jul. 1.

If you need additional information or have any questions, please contact Alicia Curry, at 360-902-6244 or Alicia.Curry@Lni.wa.gov. For technical assistance on the new rules, please contact me, at Boiler@Lni.wa.gov or call 360-902-5270.
