New Guidance for Grocery &

While many Washington workers are hunkering down in compliance with Gov. Jay Inslee’s protective stay-at-home order to fight the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, thousands of essential workers are still on the job, facing exposure so everyone else can get groceries and have other essential services. The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) is issuing guidance for many of these workers. L&I has issued a fact sheet for the grocery industry.

The L&I fact sheet provides guidance and links to resources to keep workers as safe as possible from exposure, and offers some concrete strategies. Those strategies include things like social distancing (which can be particularly challenging in grocery stores); encouraging sick employees to stay home; promoting frequent hand washing along with adequate supplies to support that; and other important steps.
