Turkey hunting reporting
If you purchased a turkey tag before the end of the spring season on May 31, you’ll need to submit a spring hunting report regardless of whether you harvested. If you have an unfilled tag bought on or before May 31, then you can use that tag in the fall, and you’ll need to complete a spring hunter report of no harvest and enter a fall report for the same tag. If you purchased your tag June 1 or later, you will only see the fall hunter report option. Turkey hunters will owe hunting activity reports (spring and/or fall) for each turkey transport tag purchased, which can be completed online in the WILD system.

WDFW is looking for beautiful photos for next year’s Spring Turkey Hunting Rules and Regulations pamphlet!
The 2027 spring turkey pamphlet cover photo contest theme is Talking to Turkeys. This theme celebrates the skill, patience, and excitement of calling in spring turkeys. We’re looking for photos that capture the interaction — the moment when hunter and bird are engaged in conversation.
The contest is now open and you can submit your photos any time before Nov. 1, 2026, for a chance to be on next year's cover! Winners will be announced on WDFW's Facebook page.
Grouse wing and tail collection
If you hunt forest grouse this fall, you can help WDFW monitor grouse populations by placing one wing and the tail of each grouse harvested into collection barrels placed around the state.
WDFW collects wings and tails of hunter-harvested forest grouse (spruce, ruffed, dusky and sooty species) during the Sept. 15-Jan. 15 hunting season. A wing and tail from each grouse can tell us the species, sex, and age of the bird.
The goal of this collection effort is to evaluate trends in harvest composition that can inform population management. Thanks to hunters like you, we’ve collected samples from thousands of grouse in recent years. These data combined with other factors such as wildfire and weather patterns are critical for monitoring trends and informing management of grouse populations.
For more information, you can read our blog post and visit our webpage about the program. Thank you for helping this effort!
Small game hunter reporting
WDFW's online reporting for small game hunters is active for the season. If you have any of these 2026 license products:
- Small game license
- Western Washington pheasant license
- Migratory bird permit
- Big game license (for forest grouse, coyote, and other species)
You can report your small game hunting activity through an online survey in your WILD account. The surveys, which include resident game birds other than turkey, are open from Sept. 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. These surveys are simple and brief, with only five questions. They ask if you hunted, which species, which counties, how many days, and how many harvests.
Your responses will help WDFW better manage hunting opportunities statewide. Even if you didn’t hunt or harvest, every response is important. For more information, visit our webpage on reporting your harvest.
Hunting licenses
If you haven’t already, you can buy your license and tags in the MYWDF app, online, call 360-902-2464, or go to a license dealer near you.
