Marine Area 8-1, Marine Area 8-2, the Discovery Bay Shrimp District, and the Elliott Bay portion of Marine Area 10 will open for all shrimp species on June 20
Action: Opens the fishery for all shrimp species in Marine Area 8-1, Marine Area 8-2, the Discovery Bay Shrimp District, and the Elliott Bay portion of Marine Area 10 on June 20.
Effective dates by area:
- Marine Area 8-1 – Open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 20.
- Marine Area 8-2 – Open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 20.
- Marine Area 8-2 – Divers may take shrimp by hand or hand-held device from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. (midnight) on June 20.
- Discovery Bay Shrimp District - Open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 20.
- Marine Area 10 inside Elliott Bay (the portion of Marine Area 10 east of a line projected from West Point to Alki Point) – Open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 20.
Species affected: All classified shrimp species including spot shrimp. This includes spot shrimp, coonstripe shrimp, dock shrimp, pink shrimp, and sidestripe shrimp.
Rules:
- The daily limit is 80 spot shrimp and a total weight limit of 10 pounds of all shrimp species combined (whole shrimp).
- If retaining only spot shrimp, shrimp heads may be discarded in the field. If retaining any non-spot shrimp, all shrimp heads must be retained in the field until ashore and finished fishing for the day.
- One-inch minimum mesh size required for shrimp pots during this shrimp fishery.
- Gear may not be set or pulled from a vessel from one hour after official sunset to one hour before official sunrise.
Reason for action: This rule is necessary to keep the harvest of spot shrimp in this area consistent with State/Tribal management agreements.
