Legislative Campus Modernization Project Weekly Update

Irv Newhouse Building
All construction work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
Work continues on the Newhouse Building replacement, nearby sidewalks, the east parking lot, and underground utilities.
Next week crews will continue:
- Preparing north section of parking lot for paving and landscaping.
- Flushing heating and cooling pipes throughout the building.
- Installing tile on restroom walls on level 1.
- Taping drywall in basement and levels 3 and 4.
- Installing terrazzo tile on multiple levels.
- Installing carpet on multiple levels.
- Priming and painting levels 2-4.
- Elevator installation.
- Installing underground electrical and irrigation at Capitol Lot (former Visitors Center parking lot) site.
- Preparing Columbia Street for repaving and pouring new sidewalks.
- Perform underground electrical work in preparation of connecting Newhouse to campus power.

Hillside stabilization continues. In the coming weeks DES will:
- Continue pile drilling; crews are drilling and filling approximately 9 holes per day.
- Continue underground electrical work.
NOTE: As drilling continues, people can expect noise levels in the area to stay about the same as they have been for several weeks.

CAMPUS IMPACTS
Traffic/road closures
- Increased truck traffic is expected to and from the Pritchard jobsite as crews remove dirt and concrete is delivered.
- Columbia Street between Sid Snyder Avenue SW and 15th Street SW remains closed.
Sidewalk closures
- South side of Sid Snyder Avenue SW
- Both sides of Columbia Street
- The pedestrian bridge over Capitol Way will remain closed through the end of the Newhouse project.
Noise and dust

Newhouse site:

All crews: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

Note: A small crew will be working 24/7 inside the building flushing heating and cooling pipes. There should be no impacts outside the building.

Pritchard site: Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Parking closures
- Eight stalls along the east side of Water Street will be closed Sept. 9 – 16 for a boom lift to install metal panels along the west side of the building. Assigned parkers have been notified.
- Columbia Street between Sid Snyder Avenue SW and 15th Street SW
- Pritchard parking lot

Lots of changes have taken place at the Newhouse jobsite over the last several weeks. This includes:
- Pouring curbs and sidewalks on both the east and west lots.
- Making progress on the installation of underground irrigation.
- Paving the south section of the Newhouse parking lot.
- Early landscaping work.
