Irv Newhouse Building Spring 2023
Just under a year ago, the original Irv Newhouse Building was empty and early demolition had begun. One year later, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, a beautiful new building is taking shape. The LCM team would like to say a quick “thank you” to the crews who have worked through rain, snow, fog, wind and other elements to make sure that the Newhouse Building replacement is ready for our Senators to move into before the 2025 legislative session.

Both the Newhouse replacement building, and the expanded and rehabilitated Pritchard building will complement the historic campus design while using modern techniques to meet both the current and future needs of the House of Representatives, Senate, their support services and other campus tenants. Both buildings are on track to receive at least a Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating and will feature design elements and artwork that highlight the timeless aesthetic and values of Washington State, and an expanded footprint to accommodate current and future space needs. |
