With fake unemployment claims filed, a reminder to check if you’ve been a victim
The Employment Security Department continues to see cases of imposter fraud for unemployment claims. More than 80 DES employees have been affected. HR will notify you if a claim is filed on your behalf, but it’s possible to determine if you’ve been affected before HR has the information. Follow our instructions for how to check if you’ve been a victim of imposter fraud and, if so, how to report it.

Get outside and enjoy a state park for free in June
You can visit state parks across Washington for free on three days this June to celebrate and promote outdoor recreation. This means a Discover Pass isn’t needed for day-use visits by vehicle on the following days:
-
June 6 – National Trails Day
-
June 7 – Free Fishing Weekend
-
June 13 – National Get Outdoors Day
When visiting parks and other outdoor spaces, help minimize the spread of COVID-19 by recreating responsibly.

It’s the last weekend of the month, so there’s still time to pick a fun May holiday if you’re looking for an excuse to celebrate. Here are some ideas:
-
National Hamburger Month – Support your local burger joint or chow down on your own recipe.
-
Asian American and Pacific Islander Month – Celebrate the culture, traditions and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
-
Military Appreciation Month – Thank a military member or veteran, whether it’s with a phone call, text, or card. They’ll appreciate it!
