Hundreds expected to attend Nov. 11 Veterans Day and World War I Centennial Celebration on Capitol Campus

OLYMPIA — The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services’ Capitol Security and Visitor Services has issued a permit for a Veterans Day and World War I Centennial Celebration. The event is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, in the Legislative Building.

The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 300 people will attend the event, which could affect traffic and parking on the west Capitol Campus. It is open to the public, and will feature music by the American Legion Band, speakers, displays, tolling of bells and a 21-gun salute near the north stairs of the Capitol Building. In addition, two Stryker vehicles and a World War I ambulance will be on display in the flag circle.

Parking on Capitol Campus is free on weekends and holidays.

Enterprise Services manages the historic Capitol Campus in Olympia which includes five parks, Capitol Lake and numerous war memorials.
