Upcoming events at Heritage and Sylvester parks expected to draw big crowds

The Department of Enterprise Services has issued permits for several large events May 19-21 that will be held at parks on the Capitol Campus.  

The events could affect traffic and parking in the area.

Capital City Marathon events May 19 and 20

On Saturday, May 19, organizers estimate that 500 people will attend the Capital City Marathon Kids Run from 4 to 5 p.m. at Heritage Park. 

On Sunday, May 20, about 2,200 people are expected to turnout for the Capital City Marathon, half-marathon and five-mile run events that have staggered start times beginning at 7 a.m. near Sylvester Park. The events are expected to continue through 1:30 p.m.

On Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the organization’s permit also covers a run fair in Sylvester Park.

MudStock event May 21

Mud Bay Inc. estimates that 550 people will attend its annual employee gathering known as MudStock, scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. on May 21 at Heritage Park. Large tents are expected to be set up for the private event beginning Sunday afternoon. 

Enterprise Services manages the historic 486-acre Capitol Campus in Olympia which includes four parks and Capitol Lake.
